Powell #4957 is in excellent
condition, ready to play. The sound is bold as is expected from an .018 flute.
It has a strong and beautiful sound, very easy to control and full of colors - a great orchestral flute.
This flute is essentially a predecessor to the early Brannen Brothers flutes.
While performing in Europe and doing contract work for Powell, Fenwick Smith
introduced Powell to the Cooper scale, which was first offered as an option in 1974. Our
flute is a very early example of what we consider to be the modern flute today.
It comes in its original case in good condition.
Maker’s marks on headjoint and body, serial number on the body only.
