Commercial Powells are
fantastic flutes; this one is no exception. The precision of the tone hole
seats is unmatched by any other flute manufacturer. The mechanism is built
exactly like their handmade flutes but without pointed arms. These flutes are
robust and have a strong sound, play well in-tune at modern settings and
require very little maintenance. They represent the best value of any flutes
available today.
#2659 is in good used
condition, the pads look pretty new, some
tarnish and surface scratches, good tight mechanism, fast and fluid
action, no dents. Very crisp engravings which were the work of Almeida, as well
as the refined, well-cut embouchure hole. This flute was very well taken care
of over the years. It has a very strong ringing tone with the classic silvery vintage
Powell sound, open in all three registers. It comes in its original case in
fair condition.
Maker’s mark on headjoint,
body and footjoint. Serial number on body only.
