L.L. Lebret Flute serial
#4516, made around 1927. Silver plated Maillechort, handmade, soldered
tone holes, Art Nouveau style
keywork, open hole, no adjustment screws, inline G, Bb shake, tear drop D#, C-foot,
blue steel springs, original pad retainers, felt pads.
Lebret #4516 is one of the rare Lebrets that actually plays! The restoration is older and will need some refreshing for optimal performance. The moderately oval-shape embouchure hole is both unusual and original. It gives the flute a very rich beautiful tone that is neither harsh nor overly bright. The sound quality is comparable to that of a silver instrument rather than a plated one. The mechanism is in good condition, no dents, the plating has some normal wear and pitting. It comes in a generic case in fair condition.
Maker's marks are on both the lipplate and the body, serial number on the body only. Engraving is very crisp.
