Wm. S. Haynes Flute serial
#42963, made in 1976. Solid silver, handmade French model, soldered tone holes,
open hole, pointed arms, no adjustment screws, inline G, B-foot, Bb shake,
.018" tubing, forged keys and touches, gold springs, felt pads,
traditional scale.
This is a very fine example
of the Haynes flutes made during
the 1970's, before the introduction of the Deveau scale. This flute is in good
condition, the pads are older and seal adequately for casual playing, an overhaul
is recommended for serious performances. The flute is very robust and vibrates
in your hands, in spite of older pads. It has a smooth mechanism, some tarnish
and no dents. It comes in its original case in fair condition.
Maker’s mark and serial number on body only. Monogram on headjoint.
The embouchure hole measures 10.2 x 12.3 mm.
Sounding length is 638 mm.
Headjoint length is 9”.
The flute weighs 477 grams.
