Haynes #40545 is a very light
flute that plays with a robust sound. It is in good condition, there are some
small dents, pads are older, but will seal with a little finger pressure. The
flute resonates under the player's fingers. It has a big low register with good
response, singing middle and soaring high without sounding thin or forced. The
well cut headjoint with the highly desirable #9 taper gives this flute a
beautiful Haynes sound. The thin body balances the strong headjoint in the most
subtle ways, color and dynamic changes are easily achieved with the slightest
effort. It is a joy to play this flute. It comes in its original case in fair condition.
Maker’s mark and serial number on body only. Monogram on headjoint.
The embouchure hole measures 10.1 x 12.2 mm.
Sounding length is 600 mm.
