From the Golden Age of Haynes Flutes

Wm. S. Haynes Flute serial #29269, made in November 1959 – three months after Rampal’s gold Haynes was delivered. Solid silver, handmade French model, soldered tone holes, open hole, pointed arms, no adjustment screws, inline G, C-foot, Bb shake, .013” tubing, forged keys and touches, gold springs, felt pads, traditional scale, A=440.

Haynes #29269 is in good condition, pads are newer and covering adequately for casual playing, a little finger pressure is required for a better seal, the mechanism is sound and tight, good action, no dent. The headjoint has been shortened about 1/8+" and came from a different flute also made in the 1950s. The tone holes have been undercut for a free blowing feel. The sound of this flute is very clear, pure and even, good response, easy high register. It comes in a combination case in good condition.

Maker’s mark and serial number on body only, monogram on headjoint.

The embouchure hole measures 10.4 x 12.3 mm.

Sounding length is 595 mm

Headjoint length is 8-3/4”.

The flute weighs 399 grams.
