Wm. S. Haynes Flute serial #25518, made in 1956. Solid silver, #9 headjoint, small patch on headjoint where a microphone was removed, handmade French model, soldered tone holes, open hole, pointed arms, no adjustment screws, inline G, C-foot, Bb shake, .012" tubing, forged keys and touches, gold springs, Straubinger pads, traditional scale.
This flute is an outstanding example of the golden age period handmade flutes produced by the Wm. S. Haynes Company. #25518 was overhauled with Straubinger pads, it has a tight mechanism and is in excellent playing and cosmetic condition. It has the signature Haynes sound - sweet and powerful - with a fast response across all registers. The action is light and smooth. The flute vibrates strongly in the low register, the high register is free and without tightness, the middle is just beautiful beyond comparison. Well-preserved handmade Haynes flutes from the golden age period are rare, especially one with such a gorgeous tone. It comes in a Protec case in excellent condition.
Maker’s mark and serial number on body only. Monogram on headjoint.
The embouchure hole measures 10.2 x 12.3 mm.
Sounding length is 600 mm.
Headjoint length is 8-7/8”.
