Haynes #17986

A Very Light Flute with #7 Taper Headjoint

Wm. S. Haynes Flute serial #17986, made in 1945. Solid sterling silver, Handmade model, pointed arms, soldered tone holes, closed hole, offset G, Bb shake, .013”, forged keys and touches, no adjustment screws, gold springs, 2 end caps, B-foot, felt pads, traditional scale.

Our flute is in very good condition and has been exceptionally well care for. The pads are older but sealing well, mechanism is tight. This is a particularly special, lightweight model, noticeably lighter than many flutes with a C-foot, especially modern ones. It vibrated under your fingers. The sound is beautiful, rich, and full of genuine colors, a true characteristic of a fine vintage Haynes flute. It has a distinctive warmth and depth that give it a remarkable musical personality. It comes in its original slim French case in very good condition.

Maker’s mark and serial number on body only. Monogram on headjoint.

The embouchure hole measures 10.5 x 12.2 mm.
