Wm. S. Haynes Flute serial
#17134, made in 1942. Sterling silver, Hamdmade Model, pointed-arms, soldered
tone holes, close hole, offset G, Bb shake, .012” to .013” tubing, forged keys and touches, no adjustment screws, gold springs,
C-foot, felt pads, traditional scale.
Haynes #17134 is in good condition, pads are older and sealing adequately, good mechanism, some tarnish from regular use. It is well suited for casual playing, though an overhaul is recommended for professional use. The No. 0 headjoint is believed to be modeled after the renowned Louis Lot taper, contributing to a robust, colorful, and highly vibrant tonal character. It comes in its original French case in poor condition.
Maker’s mark and serial number on body only. Monogram on headjoint.
The embouchure hole measures 10.5 x 12.4 mm.
Sounding length is 600 mm.
Headjoint length is 8-7/8”.
The flute weighs 394 grams.
