Vintage Regular Model Haynes
flutes represent the best value for a silver flute currently available on the
market. Contrary to common believe, the Regular Model Haynes flute was not a
cheap instrument, being priced only at a 15% discount compared to the Handmade
Model. Unlike some contemporary imports bearing the Haynes or Powell names,
vintage Regular Model Haynes were all made in the Boston workshop by expert
American craftsmen.
Haynes #16717, though showing
signs of its age with some tarnish from years of inactivity, remains in
remarkably good condition. There is no damage or rust, and all the keys move
smoothly. The pads are older but still covering well for casual playing. There are a few small dents which could easily be addressed during an overhaul.
Despite its patina, it's still capable of playing down to low C, producing the
classic Haynes sound: that sweet and full tone rarely found in modern flutes.
It would make an excellent backup flute for any serious player. It comes in its
original French case in sturdy and well-used condition.
Maker’s mark and serial number on body only. Monogram on headjoint.
The embouchure hole measures 10.4 x 12.2 mm.
Sounding length is 601 mm.
Headjoint length is 8-7/8”.
The flute weighs 441 grams.
