Powell Flute serial #7151,
made in 1986, soldered tone hole Handmade American Model, .014", solid silver, closed hole, pointed arms,
inline G, Bb shake, C-foot, gold springs, no adjusting screws, Straubinger pads,
A=442 Modern Powell scale.
Powell flute #7151, a special
order, features an inline G — a design characteristic of vintage plateau model French
flutes. Offset G keys are unnecessary on closed-hole flutes, as the finger can
comfortably reach any part of the key. This elegant design also reduces the
number of parts, resulting in a lighter instrument. Our flute is in good
mechanical shape, though it shows much tarnish from use, the Straubinger pads
are older but covering well. It produces a big, easily controlled sound. It
comes in its original case in fair condition.
Maker’s mark on all three joints, serial number on body only.
The embouchure hole measures 10.5 x 11.9 mm.
Sounding length is 595 mm.
Headjoint length is 8-7/8”.
The flute weighs 401 grams.
