Haynes s/n 39011

#9 Headjoint and B-Foot

Wm. S. Haynes Flute serial #39011, made in 1971. Solid silver, handmade French model, soldered tone holes, open hole, pointed arms, no adjustment screws, inline G, B-foot, Bb shake, .013” tubing, forged keys and touches, gold springs, felt pads, traditional scale, A=440.

Haynes #39011 is a very fine example of the Haynes flutes made during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, before the introduction of the Deveau scale. This flute is in very good condition, pads seal very well and the mechanism is tight, a sign of an overhaul well done, no dent and very clean. It is ready to play. The flute is very light and it vibrates under your fingers. The #9 headjoint is very responsive. The embouchure hole is small and elegant. It gives a good balance of easy high notes and robust low notes. The middle register has the beautiful sweet Haynes sound that is full of colors and nuances. It comes in its original combination case in excellent condition.

Maker’s mark and serial number on body only, monogram on headjoint.

The embouchure hole measures 10.1 x 11.9 mm.

Sounding length is 638 mm.

Headjoint length is 8-7/8”.

The flute weighs 425 grams.
