William S. Haynes Co. piccolo serial #49703 is from 1994. It is of African grenadilla blackwood with a solid silver mechanism pitched at A=442Hz. It plays beautifully and sweet like a small flute. It is quite balanced and easy to play. The top high B and C pop right out.
We believe this may be one of the very last piccolos made by Lewis Deveau. The pads are a few years old and this piccolo is in near mint playing condition. It comes in its original French leather covered case. The wood is perfect with no cracks. Haynes discontinued their professional piccolos in 2007. This is a highly desirable piccolo for a player. Sold in “as is” condition, no warranty on cracking. Price $3,500. Free shipping to USA addresses only.
Maker’s mark and serial number on body only.
The embouchure hole measures at 9.68 x 10.92 mm.
