Wm. S. Haynes Flute serial #41492, made in 1974. Solid silver, handmade French model, soldered tone holes, open hole, pointed arms, no adjustment screws, inline G, B-foot, Bb shake, .013” tubing, forged keys and touches, gold springs.
This is a very fine example of the Haynes flutes made during the 1970’s, before the introduction
of the Deveau scale. This flute is in good condition, it has Straubinger pads
with good seals, not too much wear on the pads. The mechanism is tight, a sign
of an overhaul well done. The flute is very light and vibrates in your hands. In
spite of the synthetic modern pads, the flute still has a lot of the original
charms and sweetness that Haynes is famous for. It comes in its original case in excellent condition.
Maker’s mark and serial number on body only, monogram on headjoint.
The embouchure hole measures 10.16 x 12.32 mm.
Sounding length is 638 mm.
Headjoint length is 8-7/8”.
The flute weighs 429 grams.
