Wm. S. Haynes Flute serial #32027, made in 1962. Solid silver, handmade French model, soldered tone holes, open hole, pointed arms, no adjustment screws, inline G, C-foot, Bb shake, .013” tubing, forged keys and touches, gold springs.
This flute is a very good example of the golden age period handmade flutes from the Wm. S. Haynes Company. It is in excellent mechanical condition, but the pads are only adequate. The flute would benefit from an overhaul or a repad. A couple of gold springs were replaced with steel springs. There are some light tarnish from normal use. No dent. It is a light flute and feels balanced in the hands, the sound is sweet, powerful and full of character, fast response in all registers, the action is even and smooth. #32027 vibrates strongly in the hands, a sign of a very good headjoint. Flute comes in its original case in good condition. Handmade Haynes flutes from the Golden Age period seldom surface in the market place.
Maker’s mark and serial number on body only, monogram on headjoint.
The embouchure hole measures 10.19 x 12.22 mm.
Sounding length is 600 mm.
Headjoint length is 8-7/8”.
The flute weighs 390 grams.
