This is a Buffet-Crampon wood flute from the 1920's – a model No. 15 as described in the 1926 Buffet-Crampon catalog. It was offered in either grenadilla or ebony. The flute presented here has maillechort keys, rings and fittings, no silver plating, C-foot, closed hole, offset G, very elegant small mainline keys, tear drop D# key, one-piece rib, original pad retainers, needle springs, B/C shake, G trill for the right hand index finger, A=435Hz. The mechanism is free and without rust, hairline un-repaired crack in headjoint tenon, small repaired crack in footjoint tenon leading into the D# tone hole, another two in the body in the right hand. One of the thumb posts protruded into the body. Missing the footjoint end ring. A proper restoration will bring this flute back to service.
Maker’s mark on headjoint, body and footjoint. No Serial number.
